Looks like Tanatan Kitchen & Bar, Juhu is on a mission to treat all its guests like kings and queens. Seriously, as soon as I entered this place, I felt like I stepped into a palace. With their interiors decked up with antique and rare copper collectibles, quirky artifacts. There are also these huge bells hung around the place that make you want to go ‘tanatan’, apparently that’s the goal. Got it?
I realised I’ve been talking about the interiors quite a lot, but it is actually that beautiful! Okay now let’s get to the important part FOOD and COCKTAILS!
The super talented chefs are here to take you through a memorable culinary journey across India while adding some modern twists to the classic Indian cuisine. It took me a while to decide what to order because menu pe sab kuch hi acha lag raha tha.
So here’s what I went for:
Khow Suey Samosa
These are nothing but deconstructed khow suey in a shot glass. For starters, these are quite nice. They are crunchy, creamy and soft all at once! If you’re not into spicy food, I’d say go for this one.
Dal Pakwan Batasha With Pani Puri Vodka
I saw the menu, I read vodka pani puri, I ordered it right away. Because what’s not to love, right? I mean, it’s vodka and it’s pani puri! It’s like two of my most favourite things came together and had a child. The only thing that was missing was thoda nimbu, otherwise I quite liked it.
Lamb Shank Biryani
I’m actually drooling as I’m typing about this one. With its succulent pieces of meat and piping hot flavoured rice, this biryani hits the right spots. I’d visit this place over and over again for this biryani and the cocktails!
Now that I’m done talking about food, to wash it all down, I’m going to talk about the cocktails. There's a selection of drinks and mixers ranging from the popular choices to the innovative signature drinks prepared by their skilled bartenders.
You know that one drink which looks really fascinating? Well, this is that drink. It not only looks amazing, it tastes amazing too! Slightly smoky and cinnamon-y at first, eventually you start tasting the saffron and honey which leaves you with the aftertaste of kava. I loved this one!
Ingredients: Black and White whisky, saffron bitters, cinnamon, clove, kashmiri kava and honey.
Paan Ki Shaan
Okay, if there were Oscars for cocktails, according to me, this drink would win it. No, I'm not exaggerating! This vodka based cocktail is what sweet dreams are made of. As soon as you enter this place, order this one. You won’t regret it, I promise.
Ingredients: Smirnoff vodka, paan syrup, freshly juiced pineapple, sour mix smoked with dried spices.
(This drink got me all excited)
Over all, I had a tanatan experience! I’d love to visit this place again some time. Also, did I mention about the live gigs? Yep! Every afternoon 1 pm to 4 pm and evening 8 pm to 11.30 pm they have singers singing for you. So, good food, great alcohol, amazing ambience and melodious music. What more do you need?
