Tucked away in Andheri’s Veera Desai area that’s teeming with restaurants and breweries, Autumn Bar & Bistro offers a unique hang-out experience. So, what’s different? It’s a large space with a high ceiling, huge bar area, an expansive dining section and outdoor seating. As we stepped in, we felt that it had the essence of a bar and came alive at night, but its multi-cuisine menu suggested it’s set to woo ladies who lunch and office goers. In fact, we went there in the afternoon and even noticed children digging into platefuls of deliciousness.
We found the best spot with a view of the bar and the outdoors. Of course, the drinks menu came first and we promptly opened the page titled Signature Cocktails. Drunken Melon, with vodka, Midori liquor, fresh watermelon flavoured with sweet and sour, seemed like an apt choice for the day, but another drink with a name like ‘Let’s Do This’ was more convincing. It was a refreshing tall glass of gin, fresh lem-on grass, jasmine tea, litchi crus and sweet & sour mix. My partner settled with a Margherita, and we browsed through the long list of appetisers. That’s when we realised that there’s also a breakfast menu with items such as yummy versions of egg, muesli, fruit platter, waffles, and pancakes. The shutters open at 9 am and the last order for breakfast is at 6 pm. We were delighted, for waffles would be ordered as dessert post lunch.
Our appetisers included Arancini Balls and Cheese Masala Garlic Bread which was recommended by the waiter. When they arrived, my partner and I gasped at the large portions.
Needless to say, our drinks were over before the appetisers, and the bartender sent a surprise our way. It was a rather pretty concoction of strawberry puree and fresh orange juice with Ketel One vodka.
The multi-cuisine menu primarily comprises European, American and Asian food items. The crispy, thin-crusted pizzas pair perfectly with drinks. You can also find light bites like sandwiches and burgers. It is noteworthy that the menu is almost equally divided into veg and non-vegetarian options.
Next up, was the main course and we settled for a scrumptious chicken dish from the House Specials sec-tion. It was grilled chicken breast on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes with barbecue sauce and veggies on the side. Yummy, healthy and perfectly enough for two! There are also meat steaks and if you want to have something more filling, Thai curry with rice, Khowsuey and noodles with a portion of Hunan style chicken will keep your tummy happy.
The dessert section will appease every chocolate lover. The brownie with Nutella and ice-cream is tempt-ing, just as the cheesecake topped with fruits. But, we suggest have waffles with Nutella and thank us later!
